Pavers Plus presented ‘Metropolis’ garden at Melbourne International Flower and Garden Show 2017, the garden was awarded both the Silver Medal and Winner of “Best Use of Plant Life” and was the result of six months of careful planning and six weeks of construction.

'Metropolis’ features large, imposing, bluestone-clad planters topped with towering trees and cascading plants. The design was set out on a grid with its straight lines representing an abstract of the Melbourne CBD as a garden city Metropolis.

Lushly planted “laneways" revealed hidden artworks from a well-known Melbourne mural artist that were converted into beautiful handmade glass mosaics by Pavers Plus. To activate the colours of the design, TONK architectural cladding weaved its way throughout the planter boxes whilst a simple, sawn bluestone paved staircase and path lead to a perfectly manicured opening of grass.

Sitting upon a structure of simple butt-joined, shot-blast masonry block, the garden was an example of how varying products and materials can be used to create a modern structure that is sleek but softened by the creative use of plants, flowers, and grass. Sitting upon a structure of simple butt-joined, shot-blast masonry block, the garden was an example of how varying products and materials can be used to create a modern structure that is sleek but softened by the creative use of plants, flowers, and grass.
